Professor Heitor Senra
A deeper look into my life and how my story began.
I started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu when I was 12 years old with my father and coach, David Senra. We started in a very small gym in Grajaú, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
I fell in love with the sport, and we started competing almost every weekend around Rio de Janeiro and across Brazil. Even as a kid, I lived the life of an athlete with hard training, discipline, and a healthy diet.
I believe this experience helped shape the way I teach kids today. My goal is to make a positive impact in every child’s life, just like Jiu-Jitsu did for me.
When I was 16, my father moved to another country, but I stayed in Brazil. I continued training under Professor Leandro “Tatu” Escobar, one of the most respected Jiu-Jitsu coaches in Brazil. During that time, I won important championships and learned something new every day.
At 20 years old, I moved to the United States. I lived inside the academy for almost two years and continued chasing my dreams. During my career, I became a 2-time Pan American Champion, American Champion, and European Champion in Italy.
My dream of opening my own academy kept growing. I wanted to teach Jiu-Jitsu to people of all ages and make a positive impact in the community.
Traktion was not built overnight. It took 14 years of learning, training, and developing my teaching method on the mats. Together with my wife, Chloe, we created something special—a place where great Jiu-Jitsu and a strong family environment come together.
And we are just getting started.
